Learn

As a leader in conservation education, we understand that experiencing AWE is often the first step in becoming an ally! From Nature Play and Safari Camps to school field trips and Zoo-to-You classroom visits, we cultivate wonder on a daily basis.

This #NationalWildlifeWeek, we’re starting with the kea, an Endangered parrot from New Zealand known for being one of the smartest (and most mischievous) birds in the world! 🦜

Our conservation partnership with the @keaconservation Trust has taken us from the coastal forest and mountain ranges of New Zealand to behind-the-scenes coding sessions here in Colorado. While these clever kea cause chaos by dismantling roofs and investigating homes, they also face real dangers like toxic lead exposure. Our team helped sort through 27,500+ photos and videos to track kea behavior and test the effectiveness of non-harmful deterrents like strobe lights.

This project proves that even from thousands of miles away, you can have a huge impact on conservation.
